Viola is built to know as little about you as possible while still doing its job. There is no sign-up, no password and no email. We never learn who you are.
There is no account
You do not register. The app gives your device a random identifier the first time it opens, and that is the only thing tying your content to you. We cannot email you, we cannot look you up, and if you delete the app and reinstall it you become a different, unrelated user to us.
What stays on your phone
Everything, first. Your answers, your stories, your affirmations, your saved audio and your streak are all written to your device, and the app works with no connection at all. If you never go online again, Viola keeps working.
What is copied to our server
So that your stories survive a lost or replaced phone, the same content is also stored in our database under that random identifier: the answers you gave during setup, the goals you typed, and the stories and affirmations produced for you. Rows are locked to the identifier that wrote them, so no other user and no unauthenticated request can read yours. The database is hosted by Supabase in the EU.
That is the entire list. We do not collect your email, your contacts, your photos, your location, your health data or your advertising identifier. We run no analytics SDK, no crash reporter and no attribution tool, so we do not know which screens you open or how long you spend in the app.
The AI provider
To write your stories and affirmations, and to read them aloud, we send text to Google's Gemini API. We ask you first, before anything is sent. You can decline and keep using Viola with content written on your device instead, and you can withdraw permission at any time in Settings.
What we send: the setup answers you gave, the goal you typed, and the story text when you ask for narration.
What we never send: your identifier, your device identifiers or your location. Google receives text and nothing else. Viola runs on Gemini's paid tier, where Google does not retain API content or use it to improve its models.
Subscriptions
Viola sells an auto-renewing subscription. Apple processes the payment. We never see your card, your billing address or your Apple ID. RevenueCat tells the app whether a subscription is active, keyed to the same random identifier. That is the only purchase information we hold.
Who else touches your data
Google (Gemini API) as described above. Supabase, which hosts the database. Apple, which handles payment. RevenueCat, which reports subscription status. Each is bound by its own agreement to protect the data to a standard equal to this one. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Settings has a Delete My Data button that removes your profile, stories, affirmations and saved audio from the phone and from our database in one action. It is immediate, there is no recovery, and we keep no copy.
Your rights
Everything we hold is visible inside the app. You can correct it on the Profile screen, withdraw AI permission in Settings, and delete all of it in one tap. Children
Viola is not for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from children.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you before the change takes effect.
